Education for Empowerment Chapter Request Process and Guidelines
Education for Empowerment (EE) 2026 will officially launch on January 5th!
What Are We Offering?
Educational Sessions
We have created a list of “Hot Topic” educational sessions based on the feedback from our chapters and the blood and bleeding disorders community.
What are the “Hot Topic” educational sessions? They are an ever-evolving list of sessions that will focus on the latest and greatest information in the community. They will include a deeper dive into some of the most talked-about topics, ranging from innovative therapies, to parenting, caregiving, aging, and much more. Please refer to the EE 2026 Sessions Lists links at the bottom of the webpage for session titles and the official session descriptions. In each file, new sessions for 2026 have the words “New for 2026” in bold beside the session title. Scroll to the right on the spreadsheet to see information about session types. There are also notes about some of the sessions in the “Notes” column on the spreadsheet.
Please note that we are still working on adding new sessions. Be sure to check the EE 2026 Sessions Lists links for the most up-to-date session list before you complete the EE 2026 Chapter Event Request form.
Additional Support
We also want to continue to support our chapters in delivering impactful and engaging local education to the blood and bleeding disorders community.

What is the 2026 Structure for EE?
We will be able to offer a total of 25 in-person events in 2026 from February 27 – December 6, 2026 (excluding August). New for 2026, we are also offering a total of 5 virtual events from September 1 – December 6, 2026. Priority for virtual event requests will go to chapters that have not had an in-person event. Education team members will be assigned events as they come in. The team member who is assigned to your event will reach out to you within two weeks of your EE request.
With your partnership in promoting the events and recruiting community participants, NBDF will happily help with planning your EE session(s). NBDF will provide all content and materials for each requested session. We will also find, confirm, organize travel, and pay speakers to facilitate these sessions. Throughout the planning process, your assigned NBDF team member will work closely with you to decide on the most appropriate speakers and fitting sessions for your event. This year we are requesting that chapters pay the hotel costs for speakers. Please reach out to your assigned education team member if you have any questions.
In order to arrange for our speakers’ travel, all requests must be submitted a minimum of eight weeks prior to the date of the event.
All logistical details, including session time(s), must be confirmed and communicated to the chapter’s assigned NBDF staff member at least four weeks prior to the date of the event.
Chapter requests for 2026 Education for Empowerment program sessions will begin January 5, 2026, and end September 30, 2026. During this time, each chapter can request NBDF’s support for one or more events. If you have more than one event planned for the year, you may submit all requests as soon as the Chapter Event Request form opens, but only the first event will be approved until we reach our 25 event slots. Additional event requests will be put on a waitlist, and you will be notified at least 8 weeks before your event regarding whether NBDF will be able to accept your event as part of the EE program. Be sure to submit your request as early as possible as event requests were filled in 2025 within 6 weeks of opening.
NBDF will provide a $1,000 stipend for each of the 25 in-person events that are accepted as part of the EE program. Chapters will receive a $1,000 stiped for only one event total in 2026. If NBDF is able to take on a second event for a chapter as part of the EE program, the second event will not be eligible for a stipend. Virtual events do not qualify for a stipend. If multiple chapters combine their efforts and place their request, each chapter will receive the stipend. This will count as one event for each chapter.
Your event can consist of up to three sessions requiring no more than two different speakers. The actual delivery of sessions will begin February 27, 2026.
Important Information for 2026:
- Education for Empowerment will be able to plan for up to 4 events each month from the last weekend of February – July and September through the first week of December 2026.
- We will not be able to plan events for August 2026 due to BDC, and we will be available only during the first week of December 2026 to provide EE sessions.
- On the EE 2026 Chapter Event Request form, there are options for you to indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for dates for your event so that we can try and accommodate everyone’s schedule if more than two chapters choose the same date.
- If more than one session is requested, these cannot require more than two different speakers per event. Up to 3 sessions can be requested for each event.
- We will be able to accept 5 virtual events from September 1 – December 6, 2026. Priority for virtual event requests will go to chapters that have not had an in-person event. Virtual events are not eligible for the $1,000 stipend and need to be sessions that can be completed by an NBDF staff member. Check the “Facilitated by” column on the EE 2026 Sessions List to see which sessions are led by NBDF staff.
- You may request more than one event for 2026, only the first event will be accepted and eligible for the $1,000 stipend until we reach 25 in-person events.
