The National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) is pleased to announce a new matching grant partnership with Save One Life that will double the community’s impact for children living with bleeding disorders, including hemophilia A, hemophilia B, and von Willebrand disease in developing countries.
NBDF has committed to sponsoring one child for every child that an NBDF chapter agrees to sponsor through Save One Life, up to $20,000 in total. Each child sponsored will be matched by NBDF, doubling the impact.
Save One Life is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children with bleeding disorders in countries where access to treatment and specialized medical care is severely limited. Their sponsorship funds provide for basic necessities—food, clothing, and housing—as well as transportation to local treatment centers that can sometimes require a full day of travel to reach.
“This matching grant is an opportunity for NBDF, our chapter network, and our community members to make a tangible difference in the lives of children around the world who struggle with access to treatment and care,” said Philip M. Gattone, M.Ed, president and CEO of NBDF. “We hope this grant encourages our chapters to sponsor a child.”
Sponsoring a child through Save One Life costs $35 a month. Since its inception, Save One Life has sponsored more than 2,500 children around the world. “This generous matching grant from NBDF creates an opportunity for the U.S. bleeding disorders community to extend that reach even further,” said Cindy Komar, executive director of Save One Life. “They can touch twice as many lives within the global bleeding disorders family.”
Community members who want to support this effort can check with their local NBDF chapter to see if they currently sponsor a child through Save One Life. To find a chapter in your area, visit NBDF’s chapter directory. To learn more about Save One Life, visit saveonelife.net.
