National Hemophilia Foundation is excited for this year’s virtual Insurance and Reimbursement Conference—Access During Challenging Times. This year’s conference is Monday, October 25th – Thursday, October 28th. The focus of this conference will be on understanding the impact the pandemic continues to have on patient access to care and the broad regulatory and administrative changes regarding insurance and reimbursement under the new Administration.
This conference is by invite only and is intended for individuals at HTC’s or chapters who engage in direct patient contact and provide insurance/reimbursement counseling to patients and families or serve as an advocate on behalf of the bleeding disorders community. In addition to HTC social workers and chapter leaders, we extended the invite for this virtual conference to HTC nurses who also deal with insurance and reimbursement issues and provide counseling to patients and families at their respective centers.
Space for this popular conference is limited to the HTC providers and chapter leaders.
Ongoing changes in response to the pandemic, changes in the rules regulating private and public insurance coverage means the agenda is in development and will be made available by mid-October. Experts will address topics such as changes in the private insurance market, Medicare, and Medicaid, as well as emerging trends negatively affecting access to care at the federal and state level.
For social worker and nurses, CEUs are not available, but certificates of attendance can be provided upon request.*
The 2021 conference is made possible through funding support from Bayer, CSL Behring, Genentech, Hemophilia Alliance, Pfizer, Sanofi Genzyme, and Takeda.
*ACCME guidelines have made it clear that pharmaceutical companies should not be in a position of offering CEUs in addition to providing travel funds for meeting attendees. These situations place the funder in an ethically compromised situation and could easily be construed by ACCME as providing an incentive to health care professionals.
