Bleeding.org Conversations
Each month, we’re sitting down with the experts in our community for some real talk. Hosted by actor and advocate Greg Grunberg, Bleeding.org Conversations features discussions with lived experience experts, researchers, healthcare providers and advocates to explore the stories, challenges, breakthroughs, and questions faced by individuals and families who live with bleeding disorders. Our first episode on women and girls with bleeding disorders is available for listening on Apple podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.
Episode 3: Holding It All Together: Caregivers and Families
This episode is about what it takes to be the person holding everything together for someone with a bleeding disorder. The mental load, the vigilance, the performance of calm, and the quiet work of raising a child who won’t be afraid or ashamed of their bleeding disorder. Our two guests are both caregivers, but they’re standing at different points on the same road. Maddie has young boys and is in the thick of it — including a son who nearly died at seven months old. Bridget has a son who just turned thirty and a granddaughter on the way, and she runs a chapter. She’s already done what Maddie is still living through. The goal of the hour is to let caregivers who are listening feel that they are not alone— and to let anyone who loves one understand what they carry.
