Daisy Cortes is a Board-Certified Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist and a Board-Certified General Pediatrician. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, where she doubled majored in Biological Sciences and Sociology. Daisy then attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She returned to Southern California to complete her residency in General Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s Hospital). She pursued her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at UC Irvine/CHOC Children’s under the supervision of Dr. Diane Nugent and Dr. Amit Soni, where she rotated through the Center of Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD) clinic. After working per diem as an oncology physician for CHOC oncology, Daisy moved to Las Vegas to work at the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada, where she was a general pediatric oncologist and hematologist, who rotated through the HTC and became familiar with the team. She returned to Los Angeles to work at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) as a Bone Marrow Transplant hospitalist. She then took the opportunity to come back to Las Vegas to become the Medical Director of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center of Nevada (HTCNV). She took 2 years to work at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital to help develop their general pediatrics program and continued with the HTCNV as interim medical director. She returned to Las Vegas to continue pursing hematology.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband. She also enjoys kickboxing, hot Pilates, working out, dancing, and reading fiction, especially suspenseful crime dramas. Daisy also enjoys down time with her husband, stepson, and pets Hela (cat) and Thanos (dog). She loves the beach and tries to go as often as she can. She is fluent in Spanish, and some conversational Italian.
